Recently, in response to an evergrowing demand for cultural events, The Gravina Museum of Fine Arts (MUBAG) was officially opened in the Palacio del Conde de Lumiares. The MUBAG is a showcase for the nation´s rich collection of paintings, sculpture and works of art dating from the sixteenth century up until the 1920s.
To enjoy magnificent views of the city from on high, a visit to the Castillo de Santa Bárbara is a must. Reached via a lift hewn out of the rock in the Monte Benacantil, the castle is built on several levels and at the top are some remains from the medieval period of the castle. |

For lovers of religious monuments, we recommend a visit to the Santa María Church built in the Gothic style with a baroque façade; the San Nicolás de Bari Cathedral built in the Renaissance style; the Baroque Santa Faz Monastery and the Agustinas Convent.
Also worth a visit is the Theatre (Teatro Principal), the Archaeology Museum MARQ and the City of Lights (Ciudad de la luz). |

Without a doubt the best way to know a city like Alicante is to walk through its streets in the Old Quarter, take a stroll along the famous Esplanada, walk though the parks, the gardens, the port, etc. |
